Louis Hayner, Managing Partner

When Louis Hayner formed The Hayner Group in 2013, he saw an opportunity to bring the capabilities of large management consulting firms to mid-market companies equally in need of comprehensive, process-driven business solutions. Leveraging his extensive background in sales, marketing and general business experience while running technology companies, Louis leads the development and implementation of organic growth strategies that enable entrepreneurial companies to boost performance and profitability, and enhance shareholder value.

Prior to founding The Hayner Group, Louis was one of the founding members of a UC Cloud company named Alteva (NYSE:ALTV), which exited in 2011 for double the average industry valuation. During his tenure, he played an instrumental role in leading the effort to build corporate strategy that delivered 65% annual average growth over five years, while maintaining a less than 1% customer churn rate.

Duane Albro, Operational Executive

Duane Albro is a highly experienced cloud services CEO having served as CEO of Superb Internet Corporation, a global cloud computing service provider and previously as CEO of Alteva, a New York Stock Exchange-traded company and the ninth largest cloud communications provider in the U.S.

Duane also brings extensive experience at the C-level in the telecommunications industry including positions at Cablevision, a metro-NY cable operator, Net2000 Communications, a northeast U.S.-based telecommunications service provider, Refinish, a privately held company in the cellular phone refurbishing business, and Bell Atlantic-New York and Nynex-New York, both predecessor companies to Verizon.

Duane has also led significant corporate process re-engineering and consulting assignments. Each assignment has entailed situation analysis, strategic action development and implementation. One of his largest assignments was leadership of a major process re-engineering team at Nynex Corporation that enabled a $150 million savings in operating costs. Duane is active in supporting the positive impact of telecommunications in education, having served on a White House National Advisory Council on Technology in Education. He has also provided testimony to the U.S. Congress on the benefits of technology used in education and served on the U.S. Chamber of Commerce - Technology and E-Commerce Committee. In the past, he has served on the boards of New York Medical College, New York Institute of Technology, Empire State College, Purchase College and the National Purple Heart Hall of Honor. Currently, he serves as a Chairman of the Board and Director of Lakeland Industries, a NASDAQ-traded global company that manufactures and sells safety garments and accessories for the industrial protective clothing market primarily in North America, Brazil, Russia, India and China.

Duane holds an MBA from the New York Institute of Technology and a BSBA from the State University of New York at Buffalo. He has completed Executive Management Programs at the University of Virginia - Darden School and the University of Pennsylvania - Wharton School and is a member of American Mensa Society.

Peter Della Porta, Operational Executive, CIO

Peter Della Porta brings to The Hayner Group extensive experience and education, which has enabled him to focus on the intersection of technology, business solutions and management excellence. Peter is a creative C-level leader, relentlessly driving IT alignment with business needs while delivering higher levels of customer service and performance. He has shown in his career repeated experiences in setting high-impact IT strategic vision and plans, implementing major projects and initiatives, rebuilding infrastructure, and effectively managing enterprise IT operations. He looks at projects with a keen eye towards driving high levels of service, quality, efficiency, and cost control in complex and budget-constrained environments.

Peter’s experience includes deep experience in areas of enterprise architecture, ITIL process management, COBIT/SOX/HIPAA controls creation and enforcement, technical services delivery, customer services delivery, application development and delivery, and security management. Peter is an exceptional people leader, relationship builder, and partner with experience ranging from board members, executive management, business leaders, and staff at all levels.

Peter’s C-Level knowledge spans 20 years including Deputy CIO of the City of Philadelphia, CIO & Chief Security Officer of the Devereux Foundation, CIO & Chief Security Officer of Northwestern Human Services and CEO of a software development firm.

Peter successfully served at the direct bequest of the mayor of Philadelphia, as a senior member of the 530 employee IT department to reorganize and optimally serve city’s 33 departments and 22,000 end-users while simultaneously focusing on IT operations for the Fire & Police Departments. At Devereux, Peter was ranked #1 among 11 Vice Presidents by the Executive Compensation Committee of the National Executive Board for seven straight years.

His work experience also includes being a member of an executive leadership team that grew an organization from revenue of $345M to $530M. He has overseen annual IT budgets in excess of $10M, on down to start-up companies. He has lead several IT overhauls and in these engagements has been instrumental in subsequent organizational turnaround and stabilization. Peter has an MBA from Saint Joseph’s University and a BS in Computer Science from Villanova University. He has completed Executive Management Programs at the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives, Chicago, IL, CIO Boot Camp, Boston University’s Executive Leadership Center, Boston, MA, CIO Pocket MBA, University of Pennsylvania Wharton School, and Small Business Development Center Entrepreneurial Development Program.

John D. Vairo, Operational Executive, Sales and Channel Executive

John brings to The Hayner Group over thirty years of experience in sales and channel development. He has created multiple go-to-market strategies focusing on high growth channel development across multiple industries.

John co-founded Emerging Technologies Consultants, Inc. (ETCI), a software development and consulting company that was self-funded by the founders. The company was sold via M&A to Braun Consultant, a NASDAQ company. The customer base was Fortune 100 companies. John became VP at Braun Consulting after the acquisition, with a focus on sales. John co-founded Phase II International, a management consulting company, focused on marketing/sales and due diligence. Customers included private equity firms. John has held numerous sales and sales management positions:

  • DuPont Information Engineering Associates – A consulting organization within DuPont that utilized CASE tools and their proprietary consulting methodology. Customer base was Fortune 1000 companies.
  • Molecular Simulations – Sales Manager of software sales for molecular analysis, pharmaceutical and materials science market.
  • Oracle Corp. – Sales Manager in their pharmaceutical vertical market group (one of the first software companies to develop vertical market sales channels). Sales Manager in their chemical vertical market group and was responsible in developing this vertical market’s sales organization from inception.

Most recently, John co-founded Amster, Vairo & Associates based upon his own successful start up experience, company build and exit. The company works with early stage companies, helping them identify their market and develop a sales plan in addition to raising initial capital. The company helped raise $400k seed funding for Sevenpop, based in Israel, a social media entertainment mobile-based software company.

John has been a past adviser and adjunct professor with Temple University’s M.B.A. program (Management Consulting Practicum). He is currently a mentor with, meeting monthly with twelve early to mid-stage companies.
